January 31, 2010: Kelly O'Neil came to our class and worked on the La Noche project!

The month of February is full of exciting events! First, I will quickly recap some highlights in the past few weeks. The kids have been loving the Fairy Tale and Nursery Rhyme Unit. The dress-up costumes have been a huge hit. The kids especially love dressing up as knights and slaying the dragon in the classroom. Donuts For Dads was fully attended and fun. A big extra thanks to Bess Carsner who not only brought the drinks and donuts to the classroom early but manage to sneak back to the classroom while we were all in Chapel and clean up. She was an angel to our class. Another big thanks to Kelly O'Neil for spearheading the La Noche project. Kelly visited our class last week and each child made a unique bird painting. Kelly has been working very hard and I am looking forward to seeing the final project. While I am mentioning La Noche, I want to remind everyone to buy their tickets!

February calendars will be going home tomorrow.
* No school on February 15 and 19.
* Parent-Teacher conferences on February 19. Please sign-up on list posted at classroom door.
* Red Day Party: February 12, Valentine's Day Party. Please have your child bring an empty tissue box to school by February 8. Have your child bring a card for everyone in the class. Please no candy. And don't forget to have your child wear a red shirt!!!
* La Noche: February 27, Buy tickets ASAP!!!
Please note the new slide show under "Peek in our classroom" is from the day Kelly O'Neil came to the class and worked with each child.

January 25, 2010

I hope everyone had a restful and fun weekend. This week we are beginning our Fairy Tale and Nursery Rhyme unit. We completed the Winter unit last week. Our class made some really neat art projects that will be coming home this week. One of the favorites was making "snow" on trees. The kids loved holding giant ice balls (I froze water balloons and brought them to class). We passed them around circle time after putting gloves on each child. We watched the ice balls melt in a bowl and talked about how ice melts and why.

On Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 8:45 please join us for Donuts for Dads in the classroom. At 9:10 we will be going to Chapel and Dads are welcome to join us.

Happy New Year!

Hi All,

Happy New Year and Welcome Back! Mrs. Culley and I are very excited to be back at St. Matthew's after a wonderful holiday break.

The pageant was a big hit and we were proud of the kiddos as they sang and performed. The Christmas party was a success. We want to give a big extra thanks to Marcia Gadbois, Margaret Madureira and Julie Williford for organizing the party. I would especially like to thank all the families for the generous gift.

I will handing out the January calendar tomorrow in school. Our new unit is Winter. I have exciting art and science projects planned for the class.
